Welcome to the Electronic Music Production course at Rumkraft
We are thrilled that you have decided to take a musical journey with us at Rumkraft!
Shortly, your course will begin. Before we start, it would be great if you could manage a couple of things. If there is any trouble with it, we will manage this during the first lesson – but see how far you can get on your own.
First of all, you should get a working copy og Ableton Live 10 Suite, this can be done on Ableton.com – where you can also get a free fully functional trial version, which is valid for 30 days. Download the trial here.
N.B. Live 10 is only 64 bit and comes with Max built in.
We made a video tutorial covering the download and installation of the free 30-day trial Ableton Live. Check it out and make sure you have a working version of Live before class starts. If you get stuck or need help, send us an email and we will get you sorted.
Alright, so far so good. Now onto the fun stuff! Head over and download a couple of files, which we will start the lesson manipulating. There is also some goodies included. Download them on our Public Dropbox here.
Next, and this is really important, you should bring along two tracks that you like as a file (mp3, wav, AIFF). Streaming won’t do it. It could be something which inspires you, or something you wish to be able to make yourself. Also, please bring headphones and a laptop (we have some that you can borrow if needed, just let us know up front).
Please fill out this questionnaire so we have a better idea of who you are and what you are looking to get out of the course. This really helps us, so please go ahead and do it right away 🙂 Link to questionnaire.
See you at the first lesson. Address is Læssøesgade 14, stuen, baghuset C, 2200 København N. Ring the bell that says Rumkraft / Harpcore. If you need help getting things installed and started, you can arrive between 2pm and 5pm for tech support and coffee 🙂
LAB TIME, every Sunday and Wednesday (as a student or Spaceball member) you can come and work at Rumkraft between 14-17. Apart from being a space where you can do your homework and meet other producers, we have headphones, Push 1 and 2 which you can borrow and a huge record library to sample sounds from. You also get to attend all workshops for free.
